How to make an herbal infusion to drink all day
DAILY RITUAL
Herbal infusions are a time-honored tradition in many cultures. By replacing your daily intake of water with herbal infusions, you will not only feel hydrated, but also nourished and grounded.
After reading this article, I invite you to prepare a cup of tea or infusion and sit listening to this 10 minute guided meditation. A great way to calm your mind, connect with your senses and start a deep relationship with medicinal herbs.
I have a routine now where I start infusions at night in a big 64-ounce mason jar. They steep overnight and they are the water I drink all day long to stay hydrated and nourished.
For this article, I use one of my favorite blends from our herbal apothecary, but of course you can use whatever herbs you want.

Why do I love this method?
60-64 ounces (8 glasses) is about the amount of water your body needs to stay hydrated during the day. Replacing just water with an infusion allows you to reap the benefits of both hydration and the healing properties of herbs.
And overnight infusion allows enough time for herbs to release all their nourishing goodness and for the water to reach room temperature –– the ideal temperature for drinking. In the winter, I sometimes like to drink warm infusions because they help raise my body temperature. In the summer though, I don’t advice adding ice to your infusions because ice lowers your internal body temperature (which is naturally warm), and it reduces your digestive system’s ability to absorb nutrients, while making your body work harder to raise the temperature of the drink you ingested.
How I make my infusions
First, you’ll need a few things to get started:
I use a heat-resistant glass teapot that fits 60-ounces of water, you can also use a 64-ounce mason jar and lid
whatever herb or herbal blend you want to use
hot water
INSTRUCTIONS
Heat up enough water in a kettle or on a pot
Add 1 or 2 Tbsp of dry herbs to your mason jar. For fresh herbs, plan to fill a quarter or a third of the jar with them.
Add the hot water and cover with the lid immediately
Let steep overnight
In the morning, strain the liquid and drink throughout the day to stay hydrated and nourished
That’s it!
If you like this method, work on creating a routine where you steep your herbs in the evening, perhaps after cleaning up dinner, so you have them ready every morning.
I’d love to hear what you think and if you notice a difference in how you feel emotionally and physically, how your skin looks, and how hydrated you feel during the day after trying this method for a few days.
