About Daniela

Hi, I’m Daniela Rey, the herbalist behind Growing Up Rooted.

After a beautiful chapter in the mountains of California—where I started a Nature School in our backyard and built an herbal apothecary from the garden up—we followed the pull toward family and moved to a 4-acre farm in southern Wisconsin.

Here, where the seasons are bold and the land feels generous, our new life is beginning to take shape. The barn is red (for now), the soil is rich, and the vision is clearer than ever: to live in rhythm with nature and create offerings that help others do the same.

I come from a lineage of women who’ve had strong relationships with plants. I was born in Colombia, where herbs were part of everyday life—used to care for the body, calm the nerves, welcome new babies, and honor the seasons. Though my path has taken me across countries and through many phases of life, I carry their wisdom with me.

My own herbal journey deepened as a mother, trying to stay well through long winters and care for my children in a way that felt nourishing and whole. Over time, it became a way of life—rooted in ancestral knowing, reverence for the land, and the quiet joy of returning to what’s real.

Growing Up Rooted was born from this way of living.
It’s an apothecary, a creative studio, and a growing community space where herbalism meets beauty, business meets spirit, and care is at the center of it all.

Here, you’ll find:

  • Herbal remedies and teas crafted in small batches with whole plants and purpose

  • An online course to help you build a personal relationship with 10 core medicinal herbs

  • Consulting sessions for women-led businesses that want to grow with clarity, heart, and grounded strategy

  • And soon, seasonal offerings and gatherings from our Wisconsin farm

My goal is to support your return to the earth, to yourself, and to the cycles that nourish us. Whether you're just beginning your herbal journey or deep in the work of creating a more aligned life, I'm so glad you're here.
