Morning Rituals: Chai Tea Latte — Benefits and Recipe
Chai is more than just a delicious drink—it’s a blend of powerful spices that can nourish both body and soul. Whether you’re looking for a warm hug in a mug or an easy way to add beneficial herbs to your daily routine, chai offers an inviting path to better health. In this blog post, I’ll share the benefits of drinking chai every day, along with my personal recipe that I use every morning to feel grounded and energized.
Benefits of Drinking Chai Daily
Chai tea blends spices like ginger, cinnamon, cardamom, and cloves, each bringing unique health benefits. Ginger aids digestion, reduces inflammation, and supports the immune system. Cinnamon helps balance blood sugar levels and acts as an antioxidant. Cardamom is a natural detoxifier and can help with respiratory health, while cloves are known for their anti-inflammatory properties. Together, these spices create a soothing yet energizing drink that can boost your mood, support digestion, and warm you from the inside out.
Choosing Your Chai Blend
When choosing your chai, consider the difference between using whole spices and powdered blends. Whole spices, like cinnamon, cardamom, and ginger, are traditionally simmered in water for 15-20 minutes to fully extract their flavors and medicinal benefits, resulting in a rich and robust brew. However, if you’re looking for convenience without sacrificing flavor, powdered chai blends can be a great option. I personally enjoy using Blue Lotus Chai because it comes in powder form, making it incredibly easy to dilute for a quick, flavorful, and aromatic cup of chai without the simmering time.
Chai Recipe
1/2 cup of hot water
1/2 cup of the milk of choice
1 tsp chai blend or loose chai tea
1 tsp honey or sweetener of choice (optional)
INSTRUCTIONS WITH WHOLE SPICES:
Heat the water in a small pot over medium heat.
Add the chai blend and simmer for 15 minutes.
Remove from the stove and strain in a cup.
Stir in honey and milk.
INSTRUCTIONS WITH BLUE LOTUS CHAI:
Blue Lotus Chai comes with a small wooden scoop inside. A round scoop is enough for one cup of chai. Stir a scoop of powder into your mug.
Add honey or sweetener of your choice.
Fill half of your cup with hot water and stir.
Fill the rest of your cup with milk of your choice.
